Tim Borrow
Tim Borrow – Photographer
Passenger Clothing would like welcome Photographer Tim Borrow to the family.
We asked Tim to give us some info about himself and what he's been up to lately.
Where did you grow up and where do you live now?
I grew up in a small town called Bewdley in the Midlands. There wasn't much to do and not being drawn to the more mainstream sports i picked up a skateboard. It was through skateboarding that i first grabbed a camera. I would take my dads point and shoot out to photograph me and my friends and it went from there really. I'm currently living in Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands, but find myself in France and the UK a fair bit.
What first attracted you to photography and surf photography in particular?
For me photography is all about trying to capture a moment in a way that is going to interest anyone, even if that person has no relation to the subject of the photograph. I try and do this through the use of light and my choice of shooting the ocean, waves and surfing as my main subjects as I feel that this is a realm that most people know very little about yet is such a big aspect of our planet. If I capture just one shot out of a whole day shooting that will capture someones interest…then I’m stoked.
Where has your work has been featured?
I have had work featured in various UK magazines such as Wavelength and Carve surfing magazines, Sidewalk and Document skateboarding magazines and even lads mag 'Nuts'. In addition to this i have had work released on numerous online outlets such as The Inertia, Mar Gruesa and The Wave.
Where would you like to explore?
I have a few trips in the works, the biggest of which being Norway for two weeks of arctic surf in March 2015. I also want to spend some time exploring the rest of the Canary Islands including some of the smaller, less accessible islands. Then there is always the ongoing want to explore the hidden corners of the British Isles.
